Wedding Dress Shopping

Rosie, Cari, Sophia and I went wedding dress shopping this weekend. I tried two different dresses and Rosie was awesome and took a bunch of pictures for me. I sent pictures of both dresses to some girlfriends and my Mom to get their opinion. So far it is unanimous. Just waiting for Boo's opinion. But I am pretty sure that I have found my wedding dress! Since Cari was with us we looked a Bridesmaids dresses too and we all liked this one. We were trying to figure out if it would work with Cari 7 months pregnant and one of the girls that worked there busted out a 6 month pregnancy pillow so she can try on the dress with a general idea of what she will look like
in June.

Spicy

I finally finished something! It seems like lately I have started crocheting projects and never finish them. This is a blanket for Phi. Joey kept saying that it looked spicy. I was so excited when I was done I snuck into Phi's room and put it over her. Luckliy she stayed asleep. I am hoping she will love her new blanket and maybe it will become her "softy cover'. Thats what Elaine called her security blanket. The cool part of that blanket was that is was mine and Ouie's too. There is a great picture of Elaine from when she was about 4 years old throwing the blanket away. My guess was that Mom was making a big deal about Elaine being a big girl. The strange part is that Elaine is wearing some paper antlers. I can only guess that it was Christmas time, but with Elaine you never know.

Yesterday Sucked

Wednesday was a yucky day. Sophia cried all day and between her crying and me being sick it made work hard. And then there was this thing with a client who was upset and she ended up calling my boss all pissed which did not make my boss happy. Then I banged my knee really really hard on my desk. It is still sore today. Then we finally head out of the office. After staying 15 minutes late waiting for the Xerox guy who never showed up. And I couldnt get the Jeep to start. Even the little trick I use wasn't working. It took me about 10 minutes to finally get it started and of course while we were trying Phi decided to take a crap while strapped in her car seat which made her more cranky. So there I was trying to get the car started with a smelly crying baby. The jeep finally started and we headed home. Joey got home right after that. I had some soup for dinner and knocked out on the couch. Dad of the Century took care of Phi's dinner and got her in her pj's, read her story and put her to bed. It was strange having him bring her to me to say good night because it is usually the other way around. It was strange but nice. I really needed the nap. Joey even built a fire (in our fireplace of course!) to keep me warm because I was cold. Today has been going much better. With the exception of the phone call from Amorette (Joey's cousin) telling us about Grandpa and the girls car accident this morning (everyone's okay) This morning has been going well. Busy at work so the day is flying by. Lots of stuff to do, and my vanilla latte was good this morning. Joey is off work and with Sophia so I can be extra productive today. And in my email this morning my cousin Erika had sent me some pics of Phi from the wedding. I loved this one of her throwing attitude.

Sophia and Her Dada

Cleaning up after sitting in the sand.

Our Wedding Site

So here it is. This is where on June 24th, 2006 Joey and I will get married. We took some time on Monday to head out and check out the beach. Sophia loved it!

Michael and Jaime's Wedding.

My Cousin Michael and his wife Jaime renewed their wedding vows in a beautiful sunset ceremony in Ventura on Sunday. We had such a great time. The whole family was together having a great time. They even got Nana and Tata on the dance floor.

Elaine and Mikey

Sophia congratulating the happy couple.
We had a lot of fun, but with Sophia still getting over her cold and Joey not feeling well at all we left much earlier than I would have liked.

Finally!!!

So as we are driving into Santa Barbara i text Lyndsey to find out where exactly in SB I could find a coconut latte. She told me Ruby's. So when we went to El Paseo mall I was happy to see Ruby's right across the street. After some shopping, we headed over to Ruby's to have a coconut latte. Imagine my surprise when it was a Mexican restaurant that didn't even serve lattes. I called Lyndsey and she told me that it was a Ruby's that was a coffee shop on State Street. I have still yet to find that coffee shop. But.... next door to the Mexican Ruby's there was Java Jones. And they had the holy coconut syrup and they were more than happy to make me a coconut latte. As I stood there waiting for them to call my order I thought about how long my search has been, and all the coffee shops it had taken me to. All the rejection from all the teenagers behind the counters at all the coffee shops that did not have coconut for me. My search was over and soon I would be sipping on the so hard to find coconut latte.

So what did I think of it? After all the searching was it the most wonderful drink in all the land? Well it was okay. Yes just okay. It tasted like a normal latte and every few drinks would have a very strong after taste of coconut (think Hawaiian Tropics suntan lotion). I would definatly get it again, but I don't think it will become my new regular. But now that my search is over I am sad. I have nothing to search for now.

The Word is Out!

I can finally Blog about it! A little over a week ago my sister told me she was pregnant!! We couldn't say anything because she still had to tell my parents. Since we had a family wedding this weekend, she decided to tell them then so we could all be there. I bought a cake and sparkling cider to toast (which we never did!). My sister had told Chone the night before and as soon and Chone come into the house she told my Mom. Before my sister could even get into the house. We are all so excited about a new baby in the family. Of course this means that Sophia's day in the sun in over! There is going to be a new Baby in town. She had a doctors appoitnment yesterday and they have given her an official due date of Aug. 30th ( 5 days after Chone's birthday) Sucks that my sister will have to be pregnant all summer long! But YEA! Sophia gets a new cousin and Joey and I get a new niece or nephew! (** She was pouring us chanpagne at the wedding. she didnt have any!! my sister wouldn't even eat chocolate cake because of the caffiene! She is taking no risks**)

Don't want to look too much into this....

Today Sophia was in her exersaucer in my office. She can now reach the slots where I keep a bunch of different newsletters. Within her reach are about 10 or so different newsletters. I could hear that she was grabbing some but it was keeping her quiet so I let it go on. Later when I turned around the check on her she was munching on a UC Berkeley Wellness Newsletter. Out of all the different newsletters to grab, she grabbed the Cal Berkeley one. Maybe she has been hanging around Rosie too much!

Bloody Noses and Dr. Visits

Sophia woke up at about 5 am. She cried for awhile and Joey (Dad of the Century) got up to feed her. After he walked in he flipped onher light and called to me that she had a bloody nose. I jumped out of bed and Joey was getting Sophia out of her bed. There was blood on her sheets and there was a bunch of dried up blood under her nose. It looked much worse than it was, but I can't even describe the feeling I got when I saw blood all over my baby's face and bed. I got warm wash cloths and wipes the dried blood from her face. She looked normal again and I calmed down a bit. I called the doctor as soon as I got to work and made a 11:50 appointment. Joey was home with Sophia today so he got her ready and picked me up for her appointment. This was our first trip to her new doctors office and what a difference from her old doctor's office. As soon as we walked in the receptionists were ohhing and ahhing over Sophia. Everything was so nice and there was only one old lady in the giant waiting room. We were seen before our appointment time. What a change from the 2 hour wait at her old doctors office. Infact they called us in before I could even finish the paper work. When I joined Sophia and Joey in the room. A very clean room. No overflowing trash or cheetos on the floor. They were weighting her. She is now 19 pounds and 10 ounces. Time for the big car seat! The doctor came in within 5 minutes. She listened to hear breathing, made sure she didn't have an ear infection and told us to give her the medicine we were already giving her and told us that the cold should last about 7-10 days. She said that the bloody nose was from a mixture of dry air and using the moco-sucker. She said it was common and we did nothing wrong. It was such a wonderful experience even though we had to be there because our baby was sick and we were in and out within 45 minutes. Amazing!

Monday, Monday

Its Monday and I have survived another day at the office with Sophia. And a sick Sophia to top it off. We are heading to Rite Aide after work today to try to find something for her runny nose. Getting lots of use out of the "moco-sucker". Poor kid can't breathe when she is drinking from her cup or bottle. Friday night and last night were tough ones with this kid. She had been kind of off last week and now we know why, she was getting a cold. Last night was rough. She just would not go to bed. We gave her dinner, a bath, pj's, bed time story and then into bed. Normally she will just fall asleep in a few mintes and when I would check on her she would be fast asleep. Not last night. Everytime I went to check on her, her big brown eyes were staring back at me. It was kind of creepy because I really expected an asleep Phia. She was quite for awhile but not sleeping. Then she started her wailing and would not stop. She cried until about 10pm. I finally got up and tried rocking her, but nothing. I put her back in bed and she cried some more. A half hour later or so I got up with her again and this time went into the living room to see if she would fall asleep laying with me on the couch. (It had worked earlier in the day) Nothing. She was sooo tired but she kept on crying. Then Joey (aka Dad of the Century) came out and took her and walked with her for awhile. I feel asleep on the couch. He came in and woke me up after she finally fell asleep and I am not sure what time that was. Poor kid, and poor us.

Super Star of the Week!

Rosie Perez!!
Rosie is the bestest ever! We love Rosie. Rosie, Rosie she's our (wo) man. If she can't do it no one can!
Rosie can over to visit and spend the day with us on Saturday. While out shopping in Palm Desert, (where Rose got some great deal at Banana Republic) she offered to watch Sophia so Joey and I could have a night out. I jumped at the chance. We went out, ran an errand and went out to dinner. It was nice but also made me realize that Sophia is really not that much of a hassle.
Poor Phia, she has a cold again. She is my little moco-saurus.

So I was sitting at my desk playing a quick game of peek-a-boo with Sophia. (Yes part of my work day consists of playing peek-a-boo.) I was covering my face with a burp rag and saying, "Where's Mommy?" and it hit me. Like it really hit me. I am a Mom. I am Sophia's Mom. I am doing what my Mom did for us. I was like "whoahhhh" a very overwhelming feeling. And as I digest that thought, along with my lunch, Sophia enjoys some pear juice in her play pen. That in itself is a small victory. We have had a hard time geting her to drink juice. She just wasn't having it and then one day she just started downing the stuff. Which is so great because as some of you know Sophia has a bit of a constipation problem (Shhhh she doesnt like to talk about it.) But the juice and karo syrup with water is helping a lot. Maybe a little too much. On Wednesday she pooped 3 times. We were so amazed I almost wrote it in her baby book.

What goes on over there?

In the office center I work in the Press Enterprise Newspaper has a office right next to ours. Everyday these two young girls, who I call Mary-Kate and Ashley because of their huge sunglasses, small size, and funky clothes. They sit outside the office and smoke a few times a day. Once in awhile they will be on their cell phones and walk right by my window. What the hell do they do there? I cannot figure it out. It is obviously not the distribution center. Could they be reporters? No because they would not be in the office all day Monday - Friday. Joey's theory is that they are the people who call you on the phone and try to sell you a subscription. It's a good theory. Everyday people wander into our office (we have no sign outside!) looking for the Press Enterprise. Those people usually want to run a fiticious business name notice. I have been here almost 2 years and I still have no clue what the Olsen twins do in the office next door. But what is funny, is that I know they are wondering the same thing about our office. We have no signs, and no customers that come in and out. We must be just as mysterious to them as they are to us! I guess I could go over and ask, but then what would I wonder about all day?

Strange Dreams

I slept awful last night. I got to bed about 10:30 after reading some more of my trashy novel. (I am reading Star by Pamela Anderson.) I woke up about every hour. Ughh. It was awful because you stare at the clock and do the math to figure out how many more hours you have to sleep. And the number got smaller and smaller every hour. Then I had this strange dream that I was walking through this industrial park place with all these office buildings. One of he buildings had a fire inside and there were fire truck and fire men running in. I walked by this gym and there was a line of people outside waiting to get in. Vince M. was in line and I went over to talk to him. He had a clear plastic bag of gym clothes. He was telling me that he keeps them in his gym locker so that he doesnt have to bring gym clothes everyday and just takes all his dirty clothes home on Fridays. We said bye and he yelled something about getting together for breakfast. Then I walked into this little knick-knack kind of store. I was looking for a wallet (because I am really looking for a new wallet) I was looking at some coin purses that had pictures of the last supper on it. Then I decided that I was going to go to the Coach store and just buy the wallet I really wanted. The my alarm went off and my dream ended.

Your children really do break your heart.

It's true. They really do. Sophia is with me about 85% of the time. I change about 85% of her diapers. I feed her about 75% of the time and I have given her every bath she has even taken except one, I have read her every bedtime story she has ever heard except one. And what does this kid do to thank me, she starts saying "dada". She has the sound down but she doesnt connect with her Dad, yet. It is only a matter of time until she does.

Oh a happier note, I want to wish Simi Bumia a Happy Wonderful Terrific Fantastic Birthday. I love you Sim. And on a side note my Boo is in Colorado skiing. Oh my Boo's jetsetter lifestyle. I can't believe she is actually skiing, she is loving it and apparently is a natural. She promised pictures so I will share as soon as I get them.

Beach Side

I can totally visualize it. We have started moving forward in plans for a wedding. There has even some talk about a double wedding with my sister. I was talking to my ex-husband yesterday and we were discussing his wedding last year. He was talking about how stressful his was, and how he hopes that I can make it all the way this time and not throw up my hands and run off to the court house or to Vegas. A beautiful, simple Santa Barbara wedding on the beach would be so perfect. So anyone with wedding advice...bring it on!

Boring, boring boring

The last few days have been dullsville around here. Not too much to report. We went out to the Block in Orange yesterday. On the way there we followed some balloons that lead us to a childrens clothing outlet that was having a decent sale. We got Sophia a t-shirt some jeans and a new little jacket. At the mall we oohed and ahhed over surf boards at the Ron Jon Shop. I used most of my Victoria Secrets gift card and we were this close to bringing home a new dog. At Moondoggies we saw this cute little american eskimo (Mom, think radar). We even went into that little booth and played with him. We almost brought him home because he was on sale. Majorly discounted. From $1200 to a mere $300. He was getting passed the puppy stage and they needed him g-o-n-e! We left the pet shop, walked around to think about it. I was thinking about all the reasons why we should not get another dog, but I think one more visit and I would have caved. Believe it or not it was Joey who decided we shouldn't bring the dog home. Amazing! Joey decided not to spend $$$! Anyways he was pretty damn cute, he also inspired me to start cleaning up the yard. Get all your Mexican gardner jokes ready because I used a leaf blower today.

Spitting Image?

So lately I have been looking at Sophia and thinking how much she looks like Joey. Sometimes when she gives me these blank stares she really looks like him. Well the other night cousin Amorette was over and for one reason or another we busted out Joey's baby book. Now we have looked at it before but we havent look at it since Sophia was born. We got to some portraits of him at 8 months old and even I was floored at the resemblence. She looks just like her Dad. Here are two pics for comparison. You be the judge.

So Joey has this man-crush on Travis Barker (the drummer from Blink-182 and The Transplants ). So we were all excited about the season premier of Meet the Barkers on MTV last night.

It was good and now Joey is sad that he has to wait a whole week for a new episode. But the cool thing about next weeks episode is that the drummer from The Erks is going to be on. It is the episode about Travis' birthday and Junior (the drummer from the Erks) is part of the San Diego State U drumline and performed at the party. Can't wait. This season Travis' wife Shana is pregnant with their second baby. They show her getting an ultrasound done and her cravings and mood swings and it made me miss being pregnant. Even made me for just a second think about getting pregnant again. Of course reality set in a second later and I realized that Sophia should have a few years of undivided attention and Joey and I should have a few years of parenting experience under our belt before we add to the tribe. Plus we really should be married next time.

We will end this post with a picture of the "twins"

What the F is happening to me?

Me, now.  So when I started this blog about 20 years ago it was a way to share my journey becoming a parent. I now have a 20 year old headin...
