The Living Desert: Never Again After April

Last week the girls and I got to go to the Living Desert with Phi's school. Of course it landed in the middle of the week in the middle of a heat wave. This little zoo is out in Palm Desert and the temps that day were above 100 degrees.

This isn't the first time Phi's school has planned a field trip here after April. Joey took her last time. I took her this time and we all agreed that if there is ever a field trip to this place after April we are going to skip it.

We spent most of the day in the air conditioned discovery room. Look at Louie's tomato face!

The fan exhibit was a hit for obvious reasons.

Of course we managed to have some fun and laughs.

We even managed to see a few animals. And I mean very few. Most of the animals were hidden in caves and in the shade.

Even the animal shows we were suppose to see were cancelled because of the heat.

Besides the Discovery Center we also spent some time at this playground.

All because they had misters. Misters in the desert totally rule. Even with the misters and the shade Phi's skin was getting really itchy. She was clawing at her skin and it so I called it a little after noon. We headed out and had a great lunch together of burgers and Mad Libs!

Despite the horrible weather, the girls and I had a great time together.
