Stop Growing Up Already

They say that when you have a new baby, your other child will all of a sudden seem older and bigger to you. Now of course since Lou was 6 pounds at birth, The Phi seemed HUGE in comparison. But The Phi did not magically mature overnight to us. So she decided to take things in her own hands. In the last month we have had 2 drastic changes for The Phi.

First she decided that it was time for a hair cut. Not a trim, but a major haircut. So we found a kid's only salon. One of those cool places where you can watch a movie or play video games while you get your hair cut. I prepared myself to have about 4 inches of her hair cut off. Then Joey and The Phi showed me the cut she wanted. A shoulder length bob. I was like "Hmm no way I am not prepared for that." But of course I can't say no to Joey and The Phi combined so into the chair she went. She chose to watch Toy Story and the scissors came out. As the lady looked at The Phi's hair she mentioned that the amount we were cutting was enough to donate to locks of love. That made me feel a little better about the whole thing. So they put her hair into a ponytail and cut. My eyes watered as the last snip happened and they held up a 10 inch ponytail.

She looked so different! She grown-up. And The Phi loves her new haircut. I just keep telling myself that it is just hair and it will grow back. I like the cut, its cute on her and so easy to wash and comb but I miss the ponytails and braids.

The second thing that happened was last week while eating a soft taco her bottom right front tooth got extra loose. Really really wiggly. After eating we went to the office so I could get some work done and as I was sitting at my desk she comes running in holding her tooth more excited than I have ever seen her. She told me she pushed the tooth with her tongue and it just came out!

I was so excited for her because she was so excited about it. We hugged and jumped up and down. Then we went in and rinsed her mouth out and put her little tooth into a envelope for safe keeping. That night she put her tooth under a pillow and fell right to sleep so the tooth fairy would visit. And since it was her first lost tooth the tooth fairy was super generous.

The Phi about to make it rain with her $5

So to recap, in the last month The Phi has chopped off her hair and lost a tooth. Seriously she can stop growing up already. I am not ready.

  2. So, this post made me cry from the cut off ponytail down to the cute mis-matched socks.

And she's not even my little girl! Just one I adore from a far way away and watch growing up.

Geez. Tell her I said stop it, too! ;)
