Tio's Tacos

Last Friday we had plans for the evening by like Noon. It was awesome because PR Dad and I did not have to waste 3 hours going...

"what do you want to do?"

"I don't know what do you want to do?"

We headed out to Riverside to catch the closing reception for our friend Oliver Sutter's art show. The Phi is becoming quite the art critic these days. While at Olive's show (that's what The Phi calls him) she stood in front of one piece, stared at if for awhile, waved her hand around and said "I like how he put the black comb up there"

After the art show and congratulating Olive we walked around the Mission Inn area of Riverside. As usual we ran into a car show. I don't know how we do it but we somehow find ourselves in the middle of car shows and cruise nights. We walked a few blocks and headed to where we wanted to go for dinner. YES we even knew where we were going to eat. None of this...

"What do you want to eat?"

"I don't care where do you want to eat?"

We recently had heard about this place in Riverside called Tio's Tacos. A small taco place with a huge patio filled with sculpture art. I mean filled! Now the food was nothing to write home about but the art was amazing.

There were random things in the fountains where we were sitting.

A wall design made of glass bottles.

El Chavo del Ocho

And even a Chapolin!

There was a tiny church built out of cement and glass bottles. The Phi had to do prayer pose when I snapped this picture.

The Phi and Schmonks loved this chair.
(Don't mind the whipped cream and chocolate mustache on The Phi)

What a great little adventure we had. But next time we go during the day so we can see all the amazing stuff!

  1. Sounds like such a good time. Bob and I go thru the same thing every time we eat out, which is often; it's so irritating. We're car people, too.

  2. I agree, Tio's Tacos isn't the best grub around but you can't beat the ambiance. If you would've gone there about 3 years ago, you could have seen prostitutes cleaning up in the bushes after a trick. Yeh, right by the bus station. The Fox Theater don't play that so the prostitutes have been relocated. I don't know where, tho. Verrrrry interesting.
