What Cookie Booths Revealed

I am going to admit this here.

When Phi and I signed up for this girl scout adventure I was most dreading cookie sale season. As a kid I was painfully shy. The idea of 8 year old me standing outside a grocery store selling cookies is terrifying. I never would have done it and I was very nervous about The Phi doing a cookie booth. I was nervous she would be uncomfortable or that people would not be nice to her.

Joey is very good about reminding me that our kids are not me. They have their own unique personality and I can't let my fears stop them from doing anything. So we signed up for some booths and jumped in.

And did my Phi ever blow my mind. She was fantastic and she had a great time. She asked every person who walked out of the store in a clear loud cheerful voice, "Would you like to buy some girl scout cookies?" Many people did and those who didn't Phi would respond with a "Thanks anyways, have a nice day!" She was so sweet and nice that she even had a few people who said no, turn around and buy cookies. She was polite and kind so people were polite and kind back to her.

The girls do 3 hour shifts at cookie booths. That is a long time to be standing and selling cookies, but my Phi has done it with very little complaining. We have done 3 booths and will most likely do a few more before cookie season is over.

As much as I was dreading cookie season it has shown me what a smart, sweet, kind, motivated and inspired girl I have. I guess that's the whole point of being a girl scout.
