Birthday Weekend

So the birthday weekend was fantastic! Seriously a great time was had by all. We headed out to Palm Springs on Saturday afternoon and started with at a must stop. Grill-A-Burger.

Here The Phi and her Nana enjoy some conversation.

We then walked over to Latino Books Y Mas for the Victor Villasenor book signing. We wandered the store for awhile and as The Phi searched through the kids books Mr. Villasenor himself came up to her and said hello. Of course The Phi got shy and hid behind my leg. But one day after she reads "Rain of Gold" for the first time and it changes her life I can tell her about the encounter she had at a book store in Palm Springs.

The actual lecture was at the frozen yogurt place next door. The book store is tiny and they had a pretty good crowd. We all stood in the back and listened to his lecture. It was amazing! He talked about his books and gave some insight to how he became a writer. His first manuscript was rejected over 250 times! 250 times! This was a real treat for me. Victor Villasenor has been one of my favorite authors for many many years. I was happy to hear that there will be one more book in the series. Yea!

Telling a story from "Burro Genius"

The Phi enjoying the lecture.

My Pops having his copy of "Macho" signed.

After the lecture we had time to kill so we wandered downtown Palm Springs until we found a pub with a happy hour going on. So we sat and talked and drank until it was time for our dinner reservation. Tia Day-Day, Tio Luis and their tribe as well as The Dre's met us at Las Casuelas for dinner.

I was spoiled by everyone and my sisters totally got my hint and I got the new Gwen Stefani perfume. The Dre's got me a gorgeous Frida bracelet and my parents hooked me up with a new awesome 22inch flat screen monitor that went perfect with the new computer that PR Dad got me!

And of course the gifts were nice, but having my family and the love they give me really is the best gift of all.
