The Best Way To Start the New Year

The best way to start the new year is by being a victim of credit card fraud. Oh yes, just the best way. I checked the bank account, like I do almost daily and found the balance a lot lower than expected. I found a pending transaction for almost $500 for a Toys R Us in Utah. Freaking Utah! So I immediately call the bank and tell then about this pending transaction. They tell me it was done with PR Dad's debit card number. So I close his card, because I can't imagine even more being taken out of our account. Then they tell me that nothing can be done about this transaction until it clears the account. They told me the transaction would clear by this morning. PR Dad is beyond pissed. And we just can't figure out how someone got a hold of his number. And such great timing. Only the freakin mortgage is due at the beginning of the month! It still hasn't cleared. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I think that it is so stupid that there is nothing they can do until the fraudulent transaction has gone through my account. What a way to start the new year. Hope it is not a sign of things to come.

That's horrible. That happened to Annie. The banks better get a fix on this kind of crime because they are losing lots of money.
