In Tents by Recess Monkey

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a review copy of the album "In Tents" by the seattle based trio Recess Monkeys. So what kind of sound does 3 elementary school teachers have?

A very awesome one.

I have to admit that even though this band has been around since 2005, I have never heard of them. Now I am a pretty busy Momma so I took this cd, threw it onto my itunes and then slapped it onto the girls ipod.

I put one album on for the girls every night and I started playing "In Tents" for them. After a few nights The Phi has requested this album every night. She is always talking about the songs and so I started playing it during the day and she is right. This is one great album. My daughter said that she really liked how fun the songs are to sing. Listening to this album is like taking a trip to the circus. It is fun and lively and cool enough for parents to enjoy it too. 

The CD drops (I am so freakin hip) on June 19th. 

Renee & Jeremy- A Little Love

Around here we are always on the look out for new good children's music.  The new album from the duo Renee and Jeremy is the perfect addition to the girls iPod. Renee & Jeremy add dreamy lullaby qualities to songs that I already love. This album is filled with the most beautiful music. At night after I have tucked in and kissed my girls goodnight these songs and lyrics swirl around there beautiful faces as they drift to sleep.

My favorite is their version of "Yellow" by Coldplay. I am not a Coldplay fan but I have always thought that Yellow is one of the most romantic songs ever. I have always thought that it just really captured what love really felt like. I remember when it first came out, the lyrics spoke to me so much that I would just write the lyrics in a notebook, over and over again. And it wasn't until I heard this version and saw this video that I realized that it captured my love for my girls.
