Sewing with The Phi

On Saturday we had a rainy stay-at-home day. Since apparently there was MMA fighting on ALL DAY LONG, the kids and I had to find ways to entertain ourselves. I busted out the Creatology Felt Owl Pillow kit. This was a gift Phi got for Christmas. I wish I could remember from who because it was such a great gift!

The kit came with everything we would need. From the felt, pieces, yarn and plastic needles.

All the sections that needed to be sewed together were marked and perforated to make is easy for beginning sewers to work the needle.

Phi is not the easiest kid to get to craft with me. She usually gets frustrated and bored pretty easily. This project really kept her attention longer than I thought it would. Of course she didn't sew the whole thing, but she did do about half of it!

A quick costume change! The kit even came with the stuffing. The Phi loved this part! She was so excited to see the finished product.

And what an adorable pillow it made!

The project took maybe about 45 minutes from start to finish. With me doing about half the sewing. I really thought it would be too difficult for Phi but the kit was so well made. The thick yarn and the plastic sewing needles and patterns were easy to follow.

The Phi is so proud of her project. Think I can convince her to let me teach her to crochet?

  1. Wow, that is a great kit. You two did a fabulous job. I bet she'll like to learn crocheting, I was about her age when I learned.

  2. Wow, that turned out great! She looks SO proud of herself! I am TERRIBLE at crafty things and I'm so scared that no one is going to show my daughter how to do things like this. Maybe, I can try a kit like this...
