Aging

I have always loved looking at photos of my parents from when they were younger. My favorites are the ones from when they were dating or just married. So young and excited. The photos are from the mid 70's many with the rounded corners and with that slight red tint that old photos get.

It wasn't until yesterday that I realized that PR Dad and I already have those "back in the day" photos. I got a text message from our friend Holly and attached was this photo.

From what we can remember this photo had to be from either late 2003 or early 2004. I was 26 and PR Dad was 30. We are at a hookah bar, I am sure it was late.We look young, excited, and happy. Not a care in the world! This is a picture that The Phi will look at and laugh at how young we looked.

In my mind PR Dad and I had not changed yet. We were still the same people we were when we met. Maybe because I still feel the same. I feel the same in my body, despite the pregnant belly, extra weight, stretch marks, and the aches and pains of being 32. And I feel the same way about PR Dad, happy and just excited to be with him.

Then I looked at this recent picture and realized that indeed we have changed. Physically anyways. These are the faces that The Phi sees in her mind when she thinks of her parents. Not those two crazy kids in the first picture that I see in my mind when I think of PR Dad and I.

December 2009

Over 6 years later. Our late night hookah sessions have turned into early school night bedtimes. We look older, much more tired, but still happy.

  1. You really haven't changed a lot. All the changes look good.
