So I Found This Great "New" Band....

Every heard of them? The are from the UK and have this unbelievable 80's / early 90's sound to them. They have amazing lyrics like....
  • Yesterday I got so old, I thought that I would die....
  • I would break down at your feet I'd beg forgiveness plead with you.....
  • You're so gorgeous I'll do anything, kiss you from your feet to where your head begins...
  • Why can't I be you......
  • you lost and lonely, you strange as angels......
  • whenever I'm alone with you, you make me feel like I am home again.....
  • its a wonderful surprise to see your shoes and spirits rise
Yes people I am talking about The Cure. Hell I am only about 20 years too late. A few weeks ago PR Dad and I were vegging on the couch watching HD Net and we caught about 75% of a The Cure concert. I was in awe the whole show. Not just because it was in high definition, because believe me, the current Robert Smith is not the most attractive thing to see on HD, but it was still amazing. PR Dad told me about the time when he was 15 and went with some friends to see The Cure at Dodger Stadium. So jealous. So of course I start listening to every The Cure song that I can find online and then I download the Greatest Hits (both singles and live) onto my ipod and I have not stopped listening since. All these years wasted on New Kids on the Block and Jodeci listening could have been spent alone in my dark room listening to Boys Don't Cry over and over again. ARGHHH! Oh well now its time to make up for it.

This is how obsessed I've become.......

Yes making my kid look like Robert Smith. Minus the lipstick and eyeliner, but that does give me an idea!

And speaking of The Phi. It has been awhile but she had picked up her camera again and there are some new entries over at What The Phi Sees, her photo blog.

Oh man... "Pictures of You" has to be one of my all time favorites. "Friday I'm in Love" and "Lovesong" are classics. And "Close to me" is just simply awesome.

  2. You're kidding me, right? Please say you're kidding.

If you haven't already (illegally downloaded) bought too much of their stuff, you can just email me your address and I'll mail you a Cure mixtape that will BLOW YOUR MIND.

PS: In Orange. The Cure, In Orange. You want it.

Also,in high school I did a wicked portrait of Robert Smith that won some art prize thingy. I really doubt the judges knew who it was of :P

  5. ARE YOU SERIOUS???

The Cure!! LOVE 'EM!! I was at that show your man is talking about...I saw them when I was 17, at Dodger Stadium. It was a wonderful night. Even though Robert Smith is ugly as sin you gotta love that fool and his red lips and smudgy black eyeliner.

My Cure faves: Lullaby, Killing an Arab, The Walk, Boys Don't Cry (which my cousin's dedicated to me at a nightclub when I turned 18!! Woooot), Lovesong, Fascination Street. The list could do on and on.

The holey trinity for me was The Cure, Depeche Mode and Morrissey.

My husband could not believe you never ever heard them. Now you know!! LOL
