Lead Paint. Breaking Kids Hearts Since 1908

I have been watching over all the toy recalls, but this morning Jessica sent me an email about a Curious George doll recall. Her son had one and she thought that The Phi might have one too. And damnit she does. Her birthday George doll was on the list. The paint on the face of the doll has more lead than allowed. He has to go and I don't know how I am going to take it away without her freaking out. I mean I am not going to rip it from her hands and toss him. I will do it when she is not looking, but I know that eventually I will hear "Mommy, where's George?" We bought her this doll for her first birthday. It was the time she was just falling in love with Curious George and the birthday doll was a perfect gift. He had a party hat and wore a shirt that said Happy Birthday with a space underneath where we wrote in red marker "The Phi". She even took her 1 year portraits with this doll. Sure she has a bunch of other George dolls but this was THEE doll. I know that right now it is laying in her bed where she cuddled with him last night. Oh man this sucks, why couldn't have these dolls been thoroughly checked before they went on the shelves. Before my little girl grew attached to him, before she loved him. The Phi has never grown attached to any object until this doll and now after 1 1/2 years I have to get rid of her friend. Curious George Recall
